Caleb’s Story

Building a Foundation for Excellence

Growing up in New Haven, Missouri—a small rural town of just 2,400 people—Caleb Otten didn’t play his first snap of football until 5th grade. But once he stepped onto the field, he seized the opportunity and never looked back.

Now a standout left tackle at MICDS, one of Missouri’s football powerhouses, Caleb earned varsity snaps as a freshman and achieved first team all-conference honors as a sophomore, helping lead his team to the state semifinals.

Caleb’s journey isn’t just about natural talent—it’s about preparation meeting opportunity. His success on the field stems from years of dedication: relentless work ethic, coachability, and the continuous pursuit of improvement. Whether in the weight room, on the practice field, or in the classroom maintaining his 3.39 GPA, Caleb brings the same level of commitment to everything he does.

As co-head of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Caleb’s leadership extends beyond football. He sets the standard through his actions, embodying the character and work ethic that elevate not just his performance, but his entire team.

At the next level, Caleb won’t just be joining a football program—he’ll be transforming it with the same dedication and character that has defined his high school career.

In Their Words: Testimonials

What Coaches Say About Caleb

A college team is going to get athleticism. But what they may not know is that they're going to get that high character, high work ethic, great football IQ guy. Any college coach that gets Caleb is going to get a guy who's going to be a winner for them. He's also super coachable. If they feel like he's got to step his game up, Caleb will do everything that coach wants him to do and more in order to meet their expectations. You can win with that.

Fred Bouchard

Former Head Football Coach at MICDS (5-time State Champion)

He does a great job of understanding his role. He doesn't try to do too much, and he's always in the right spot at the right time. And it's not because of luck. It's because of his hard work, and because he understands his role on the team. He's also a great young man. He always steps up to the challenge. I think it comes from the leadership of his mom and dad. They put the opportunities in front of him, and he always rises to the occasion.

Nick Menneke

Offensive Coordinator and Offensive Line Coach

His preparation has been the secret to success. He's a guy that's not shying away from work. He's going to focus on developing, getting better, pushing himself, pushing those around him. He's also intelligent and communicates well, which obviously bodes well for the offensive line. He's a prototypical offensive lineman. You're going to get a guy that's going to come in, learn your system, physically fit in, and be able to execute.

With Caleb, you're going to get a dog. Somebody who's going to give you everything they've got, coachable and really going to apply what you're giving them, technically sound and someone that's going to give you everything they've got. I would love to have Caleb on my offensive line when I played quarterback, that's for sure.
